Two wheel island

If every visitor to Anglesey brought a bike, we would be more than happy.

We have recommended routes for two wheeled naturalists, historians, ornithologists, and bikers of all ages.

Anglesey is relatively flat – though there are some surprising and challenging undulations, but recognised routes will take you past smugglers’ coves, cliffs, lighthouses, ancient churches, Stone Age burial chambers...and you can finish up with a swim on a secluded beach, or have a pint in a seaside village pub.

The scenery is distracting, there’s no doubt about that, but Anglesey is a labyrinth of old farming lanes, and apart from the main communicating roads between the towns, you will notice how quiet it is. Just you, the family and the odd tractor.

We are especially proud of our newest route – Lôn Las Cefni – a dedicated cycle path which invites you to ride on flat terrain from the enchantment of Newborough Forest on the west side of the island, to the picturesque Cefni reservoir beyond Llangefni.

It is an environmental experience, for here you will begin within the Newborough national nature reserve, pass through the Malltraeth marshes and skirt along the banks of the River Cefni.
A safe and comfortable route, also suitable for wheelchairs.

Your ride will be interrupted, since we guarantee that you will spot something which will take your interest.

But that is so true of most of the routes. South Stack Cliffs at Holyhead is an RSPB reserve, the Cemlyn Reserve, one of the best in Wales, is on the Bodedern route - so too is Llyn Alaw, the largest lake on the island.

And with the ever increasing fuel prices – what choice do you have?
