Beaumaris Gaol
Beaumaris Gaol is full of memories and secrets providing a fascinating insight into the world of the prisoner during the 1800s.
Walk along the dimly lit corridors and explore the spartan cells and places of punishment. Visit the condemned cell and experience the darkness of the punishment cell.
In 1862 Richard Rowlands was executed for the murder of his father-in-law. Rowlands protested his innocence and according to local tradition he put a curse on the clock in the church tower opposite the scaffold.
To this day the clock has never kept the right time.
